Visa Waiver Program
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables nationals of 38 participating countries to travel to the US for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa.
Changes to VWP Program
Beginning January 21, 2016, nationals of VWP countries who are also nationals of or who have traveled on or after March 1, 2011 to Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria are no longer eligible to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. These individuals will still be able to apply for a visa using the regular immigration process. Learn more about this new change and to determine if you are affected.
US Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) Approval
It is mandatory for all Visa Waiver Program travelers to be approved for ESTA. Learn more about ESTA, an online application system for all travelers from Visa Waiver Countries only. VWP travelers who have not obtained approval through ESTA should expect to be denied boarding on any air carrier bound for the United States.
